    Perstorp acquires TDI and HDI units from Rhodia and Lyondell
    Swedish speciality chemicals company Perstorp follows up its recent rapid expansion with the acquisition of the speciality chemicals operation from Rhodia Organics and Lyondell Chimie TDI SCA, a LyondellBasell subsidiary, including the production of TDI, HDI and HDI derivatives. Perstorp says that this acquisition gives the company an outstanding product portfolio in particular for the coating industry.

    New BASF/Elastogran system houses in Central Europe
    With the establishment of two system houses in Poland and Slovakia by the BASF subsidiary Elastogran, the company responds to the demand of the rapidly growing markets in Central and Eastern Europe. In 2009 BASF will start local production and development of PU systems in the new system house near Bratislava. The one in Posnan will be commissioned in 2010.

    New non-ionic monomer for PUDs
    Swedish Perstorp has introduced at the ACS in Charlotte, USA, Ymer N120. This new non-ionic monomer is said to provide more formulation freedom, robustness and pH-independence in PUDs. Perstorp says, that adding Ymer N120 helps make solvent-free and thereby greener PUDs possible and also cuts down the time and steps required to make non-ionic PUDs.
