Linseed oil-based urethane polymer for woodcare applications

Alberdingk Boley has launched the new, urethane-modified oil polymer grade Alberdingk OP 100. Application fields are impregnations or woodcare oils. The new product is a polymer dissolved in linseed oil which is suitable for all wood species.

Hennecke at the JEC

At the JEC Composite Fair in Paris from 13 – 15 April 2010, Hennecke GmbH will present process innovations in the field of the PUR-CSM (Polyurethane Composite Spray Moulding) technology. PUR-CSM uses spray technology to manufacture fibre-reinforced parts or compound mouldings made of filled or unfilled polyurethane systems. Highlights at the show will be a new spray mixhead for large outputs as well as samples from the automotive sector.

BASF increases prices for certain polyalcohols

BASF is increasing the prices of its polyalcohols neopentylglycol (NPG), trimethylolpropane (TMP), hydroxypivalic acid neopentylglycol ester (HPN) and 1,6-hexanediol (HDO) with immediate effect or as existing contracts permit.

Merquinsa increases price for Pearlstick and Pearlbond TPUs

Merquinsa announced a price increase of EUR 200.00 per tonne across the European region, the Middle East and the Indian subcontinent; and USD 300.00 per tonne in Asia, Latin America and North America for all Pearlstick and Pearlbond TPU speciality resins.

Albemarle and Chemtura close flame retardants supply deal

Chemtura has entered a long-term strategic sourcing agreement with Albemarle. Under the agreement, Chemtura will source BA-59P, DE-83R, Firemaster 2100, n-propyl bromide and sodium bromide from Albemarle. Additionally, Albemarle is assigning its brine interests in Chemtura's West Brine production unit located in Union County, AR, USA, to Chemtura, which will further strengthen the company's bromine operations and maximise productivity.

Permira agrees on debt restructuring for BorsodChem

Permira has agreed on a deal with the Chinese company Wanhua Industrial over a restructuring of BorsodChem’s EUR 1.1 billion (USD 1.5 billion) debts. Under the plan, Permira and Vienna Capital Partners, the majority shareholders of the Hungarian chemicals company, along with Wanhua Industrial would underwrite a EUR 140 million injection of new funds.
