Dow schedules maintenance turnaroundDow Polyurethanes began work on a scheduled five-week turnaround at its MDI production facility in Stade, Germany, for routine maintenance and a government mandated process equipment inspection. Recent increased frequency of facility shutdowns across the industry has put additional pressure on the supply of MDI and availability remains tight, a Dow official said. This turnaround coincides with a scheduled maintenance turnaround at Dow’s aniline facility in Boehlen, Germany, which began on 1 May and which is expected to last six weeks. Both of these turnarounds involve equipment repairs and replacements, reactors inspections and process adjustments, some of which are required by law every five years. |

RocTool adapts Cage System for RTM processesAfter having developed the Cage System technology, the rapid transformation of composites by electromagnetic induction, French company RocTool has launched the first adaptation of its induction process for the RTM (Resin Transfer Moulding) Industry. This new technology is designed for rates of production between 100 to 1000 parts per day, which is of great interest to the car industry, water sports, sports & leisure and to the aeronautics markets. The Cage System is a procedure of ultra rapid transformation of composites, which allows to instantly heat the surface of the mould. When using electromagnetic induction heating the Cage System allows two different temperatures, one for the resin injection and another for the curing phase.
