I&J FISNAR: VC-1195A Dispensing Valve ControllerVC-1195A valve controller allows for control of one or two dispensing valves. When dispensing medium to high viscosity materials using a valve, the normal spring return action may be too slow. To speed up the return/closing cycle and to eliminate dripping, it is recommended to use the VC-1195A valve controller to control both the ON and the OFF action of the valve. VC-1195A greatly enhances the performance of any valve designed for a 4-way operation. By using air to both open and close the valve, the valve controller provides much 'crisper' valve closing. Particularly when using the 790HP series spool valves, the VC-1195A valve controller maximizes the valve suck-back action and closes the valve more quickly, reducing material 'stringing' problems. It is recommended that all automate |

PU foam protects BP pipelineBP has started to use polyurethane foam erosion dams instead of sand bags to protect its major oil and gas pipelines. The moulded foam dams, which stabilise earth on steep sloping terrain, are initially being used on the oil company’s 1768km Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) pipeline that will take oil from the Caspian Sea to the Mediterranean. UK company Industrial Foam Systems (IFS) is supplying the PU chemical system for the BTC pipeline. The specially developed low-density, open-celled, rigid foam system, called Cellafoam 35, is manufactured at the company’s facility in Kings Lynn, Norfolk, and exported to a BP location in Georgia. The PU system is moulded in-situ around sections of the pipeline as they are being laid in the ground. PU foam erosion breakers are designed to give the pipeline |

Stepan increases PU sales and earningsStepan Company, Northfield, Illinois, USA, has announced a 53% rise in sales and “significantly better” earnings for its Polymers group in the first quarter. The business produces aromatic polyester polyols (APPs), polyurethane systems as well as phthalic anhydride for use in plasticizers and polyester resins. In the three months of 2005, the Polymer group sales rose to USD57.4 million largely because of higher selling prices caused by continued raw material cost increases, said Stepan. Sales volume grew 5% for the period ended March 31, according to the company. Polymer earnings improved due to higher volumes, particularly for higher margin polyurethane polyols, and an improved sales mix, said the company.
