Chemtura Increases Prices on Mark Organotin Stabilizers

Chemtura Corporation announced yesterday a 12 % increase in selling prices on Mark organotin stabilizers, for all package sizes, in North and Latin America, effective immediately or as contracts allow. The increase is necessary due the recent unexpected tight supply and the dramatic run-up of tin-metal costs over the last 12 months, especially in the last two months.

Dow Chemical raising prices on isocyanates

Dow Chemical Co. is hiking prices on April 1 for two polyurethane curatives in the U.S. and Canada,The company said it will boost prices by 10 cents per pound on Voranate toluene diisocyanate and five cents per pound on methylene diphenyl diisocyanate sold in the U.S. and Canada. Tight supply and volatility in raw material and energy costs were blamed for the increases. The firm last raised TDI prices on Oct. 1, 2006.

Permira takes over Borsodchem

In the next few days, the English associated company Permira will completely take over the Hungarian chemicals Group Borsodchem. At the end of the month, the fifth-largest share of the Hungarian central index Bux will be taken off the stock market. Permira will then hold 87 % of the shares, the remainder the old shareholder Vienna Capital Partners. Thomas Jetter, a partner of Permira is cited with the following statement: "With Borsodchem, we want to compete with the industry giants BASF, Bayer and Huntsman more strongly than was the case before” Permira paid EUR 1.1 billion for Borsodchem. Dow Polyurethanes to acquire Hyperlast and Autothane

Dow Polyurethanes has announced that it plans to acquire UK polyurethanes elastomers systems business Hyperlast Ltd. and Autothane Ltd. the manufacturer of automotive suspension components, pending regulatory approval. The two companies, both subsidiaries of British Vita, are specialists in the development of PU elastomers for the marine, engineering resins, oil and gas pipeline, and automotive industries. The deadline for submitting technical paper abstracts for the Polyurethanes 2007 Technical Conferencehas been extended to 9 March 2007. Graco selects RIM Polymers for BetaCell distribution

Graco Inc., Minneapolis, MN, USA, has selected RIM Polymers Ltd. to distribute the company´s Gusmer-Decker BetaCell polyurethane equipment to automotive original equipment manufacturers in the Asia-Pacific region. “RIM Polymers has a long successful history in the Asian Polyurethane equipment market,” says Jeff Johnson, director of sales and marketing for reaction injection moulding products, adding that RIM Polymers currently distributes Graco´s mixing heads in Asia. Graco manufactures a line of Gusmer-Decker RIM machines used in polyurethane processing, including BetaCell machinery for in-line automotive noise, vibration and harshness applications. RIM Polymers, headquartered in Singapore, makes polyurethane foam machines primarily for the Asia-Pacific region market.
