Linseed oil-based urethane polymer for woodcare applications
Alberdingk Boley has launched the new, urethane-modified oil polymer grade Alberdingk OP 100. Application fields are impregnations or woodcare oils. The new product is a polymer dissolved in linseed oil which is suitable for all wood species.
The product offers good stain resistance on hardwood and on softwood substrates as well as very good wood-warming, which is comparable to traditional, solvent-borne binders, says the company. Thanks to urethane-modification, it can be applied as one-component or two-component system. Furthermore, it is being used in existing, solvent-borne systems in order to reduce the amount of Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC). The renewable resource content of Alberdingk OP 100 is more than 80 %. Contrary to many solvent-based systems, the 100 % urethane oil complies with REACH legislation. According to the company, the product is very cost effective, as it is possible to soak an area of approximately 25 m2 per litre of material.
