New PU facility in Tianjin
Tianjin Cosmo Polyurethane Co. Ltd, Tianjin, China, is investing RMB258 million (EUR25m) to build a plant with capacity to produce 18,000 tonnes of polyester polyols and 36,000 tonnes of polyurethane per year. The Tianjin facility is expected to achieve annual sales of RMB1.1 billion (EUR105m), according to a statement from Tianjin Economic-Technological Development Area (TEDA).
Tianjin Cosmo, a joint venture between Sinopec Tianjin Petrochemical Company and Japan’s Mitsui Takeda Chemicals Inc of Tokyo, manufactures polyesters, polyether and isocyanate raw materials. The company supplies PU materials for home appliances, automotive steering wheels and seating to customers including appliance manufacturers Haier and Hisense as well as suppliers Japanese car maker Toyota.
