25th IKV Colloquium: Session on processing of PU

Sixty years of the IKV and 25 Colloquia: the Institute of Plastics Processing (IKV) is holding its Jubilee Colloquium on 3 – 4 March 2010 in the Eurogress, Aachen, Germany. Under the motto "Plastics Technology – Looking Ahead" the IKV will be giving an overview of the latest research results in the fields of plastics and rubber technology. The research topics covered at the IKV take in the fields of injection moulding, extrusion, rubber technology, moulded part design and materials technology, fibre-reinforced plastics and PU. The PU processing topics at IKV are treated in an inter-disciplinary way.

According to Dow Chemical, its Verdiseal waterproofing system has become a preferred brand for architects and engineers involved in “green roof” projects. Protecting the roof from bulk water and root penetration, the spray-applied polyurethane creates a seamless monolithic barrier across the roof deck, side walls and any sloping surfaces in between, says the company.

For this, a new process has been developed whereby – with a special high-pressure technology for small throughputs – the application of the seals can be carried out at considerably lower costs with the same high level of quality.
