Syntilay (Boca Raton, Florida, USA) recently announced the world’s first AI-designed shoe, 3D printed from TPU.
With a curiosity in pushing the boundaries of design, Syntilay set out to develop the world's first AI made commercially available shoe. Not merely a concept shoe that demonstrated the idea was possible, but a product that consumer s can actually own and use!
Spending about 2 years putting all the production and distribution together, Syntilay equally was focused on assembling an incredibly talented team of people to help succeed. The vision was explained to Joe Foster, the legendary founder of sneaker brand Reebok, who with his wife Julie, made the decision to advise.
3D Printed Is Very Comfortable
This process rethinks the traditional layer by layer approach, which makes the comfort of our Syntilay Xplorer slide incredible and removes entirely the feeling of hard plastic. Rather, the TPU plastic shoe has increased support and flexibility as shown in the image below. Our designer additionally interweaved mesh comfort into the design to compliment the thicker TPU material for added comfort.
The misconception that 3D printed shoes must be hard or are similar to other 3D printed plastic objects is simply false. Thanks to the rapid innovations in the space, we are at a point that 3D printed shoes offer an unrivaled comfort experience due to scan to fit technology. Each Syntilay Xplorer slide is scanned to fit you perfectly to your measurements of length and width. Previous issues of slippage and more that can result in foot injuries are generally avoided with a fit that is specially developed to your exact shape of feet. Scan to fit technology is disruptive and now more known with the Xplorer model of AI designed shoes.
