The LayDown VariMaster system is designed to enable real-time adjustments to foam grades without interrupting the production process. This approach reduces downtime and transition times between grade changes.

Cannon Viking will debut its new LayDown VariMaster system at K 2025 in Düsseldorf, Germany, from October 8–15. The technology enables real-time adjustments to foam grades without interrupting production, marking what the company describes as a major advance in continuous slabstock polyurethane foam manufacturing.
Designed for specialty formulations such as MDI, viscoelastic foams, and high-resilient foams, the LayDown VariMaster provides manufacturers with flexibility to produce a wide range of foam types on a single line. By distributing the mixed formulation evenly across the pour plate, the system delivers consistent block shape and fine cell structure while minimizing density variation.
The VariMaster combines the benefits of traditional trough and liquid laydown systems in one unit. Its on-the-fly adjustment capability maintains a continuous, uninterrupted production run, while the system’s adjustable outlet adapts to different chemical outputs, viscosities, and filler contents. This reduces downtime during setup and changeovers, improving overall yield and efficiency. Cannon Viking also emphasizes the unit’s simple design, ease of maintenance, and long lifespan.
"After the global success of the Cannon Viking CarDio Gatebar, which ensures precise and controlled foam expansion using CO₂, we adapted this technology to improve chemical foam pouring for non-CO₂ systems,” said Richard Doublet-Stewart, Cannon Viking global sales manager. “Customer feedback drove further optimization, leading to the development of the LayDown VariMaster.”
The system will be available globally from early 2026 for both new and existing continuous slabstock plants and can be retrofitted to non-Cannon Viking machines. The company will work with customers to determine the best installation and configuration for each line.
Cannon Viking, part of the Cannon Group, designs and manufactures foam equipment in the UK and supports more than 800 customers across 140 countries. The company has played a key role in the evolution of polyurethane foam production for the bedding and furniture sectors.
