Novoloop's technology for converting polyethylene waste into polyols is being scaled by partner Shanghai Huide.
US-based recycling technology company Novoloop has entered into a five-year contract manufacturing agreement with Shanghai Huide Science & Technology to expand production of its Lifecycled thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU). The deal establishes long-term terms for supply, pricing, and quality standards.
Novoloop has developed a chemical process that converts post-consumer polyethylene waste into polyols comparable to virgin materials. The process is designed to allow conventional fossil-based inputs to be replaced with recycled plastic waste.
Huide, a polyurethane manufacturer with nearly three decades of experience, provides research, scale-up, production, and supply chain capabilities. The company’s facilities will be used to commercialize Novoloop’s technology and increase output volumes.
The partners have already produced multiple batches of Lifecycled 67A TPU using Novoloop’s polyols and formulations on commercial reactive extrusion lines. According to the companies, the material met quality and performance specifications, confirming the technical feasibility of scaling up production with circular feedstocks.
The agreement also includes provisions for establishing Global Recycled Standard (GRS) traceability and reporting as production expands, with plans to introduce additional TPU grades in future phases
.
Miranda Wang, chief executive officer at Novoloop, said: “This partnership marks a major step forward in making circular TPU commercially viable at scale. By teaming with a world-class polyurethane producer like Huide, we can offer dependable quality, traceability, and cost stability – all essential for broad adoption.”
“We are excited about the transformative potential of this collaboration,” said Huide general manager Charley Qian. “Huide has always stood for sustainability and innovation, and for delivering products that embody quality, consistency, and trust. Together with Novoloop, we can extend this mission and drive technological innovation toward a more sustainable life.”
