PU mesh parasols protect Seoul’s park-goers
The innovative parasols are designed to protect park-goers from the summer sun, whilst also standing up to harsh conditions, such as typhoons.
South Korean design house BKID has designed an installation-type sunshade for Seoul’s parks, inspired by the structure of a bird’s wings. The design offers “excellent” wind resistance while remaining lightweight, making it suitable for groups of 10 or more.
The Seoul Wing sunshade, utilizing a lightweight polyurethane mesh structure, is resilient against harsh weather like typhoons. Its easy installation makes it ideal for public spaces, providing shade and comfort for multiple people during outdoor activities. Durability and safety are maintained throughout.
Seoul Wing was commissioned by the Seoul City Government. The Government also commissioned a portable sunshade called Seoul Shade specifically for public events and outdoor activities. This easy-to-use, foldable sunshade is designed for one or two people and features a camping chair-like structure for simple setup and portability. Users can quickly unfold it with a few easy steps and then compactly fold it for convenient storage and transport.
The design offers an efficient solution for providing shade during public events or outdoor activities, especially in urban environments. Its user-friendly structure makes it highly versatile and practical for various situations.
