Kimpur gains ISCC PLUS certification for two Turkish sites

Polyurethane systems producer Kimpur has obtained ISCC PLUS certification for its Gebze and Düzce production facilities, enabling the company to supply certified polyurethane systems and polyester polyols based on bio-circular and recycled raw materials.

ISCC PLUS is an internationally recognized scheme that provides traceability across the value chain, from feedstock sourcing to finished products. The certification confirms that Kimpur has completed an independent audit covering the use and allocation of sustainable raw materials within its operations.

Under the certification, Kimpur will apply a mass balance approach, allowing bio-circular and recycled inputs—including post-consumer and industrial waste—to be attributed to finished products without requiring changes to existing production processes. The company said this enables it to maintain performance characteristics while increasing the share of sustainable content across its portfolio.

The scope covers a broad range of polyurethane applications, including polyester polyols, rigid and flexible foams, CASE (coatings, adhesives, sealants, elastomers) systems, and footwear materials.

Kimpur has already been producing PET-based polyester polyols derived from post-consumer plastic waste. With the ISCC PLUS certification, these products are now included within a verified framework, aligning existing circular materials with internationally recognized sustainability standards.

Tuncay Halat, deputy general manager of sales, marketing and sustainability at Kimpur, said: “We are pleased to have obtained the ISCC PLUS certification for our Gebze and Düzce facilities. With this certification, we have documented our existing practices within an internationally recognized system, making the solutions we offer to our customers more transparent and verifiable.

Through the mass balance approach, we will continue to develop more sustainable products while maintaining our existing production infrastructure. This achievement further strengthens Kimpur’s commitment to developing high-performance polyurethane systems and polyester polyols without compromising on sustainability.”

The company said the certification will support expansion of its sustainable product portfolio and closer collaboration with customers seeking lower-carbon polyurethane materials.
