The American Chemistry Council’s Center for the Polyurethanes Industry (CPI) appointed a new leadership team to its Steering Committee on Monday with senior executives from Carpenter Co. and COIM USA taking the top roles.

Brad Beauchamp, president and CEO of Carpenter, has been elected chair for a two-year term running from 2026 to 2028. He succeeds Tobias Haber of BASF, who led the committee over the previous term and oversaw progress in areas including advocacy, product stewardship and industry engagement.

Beauchamp said the polyurethane sector continues to expand and emphasised CPI’s role in supporting that growth. “We’ve seen tremendous growth in polyurethanes, and CPI is critical to advancing and advocating for our industry,” he said.

Robert Tauchen, vice president of polyurethanes at COIM USA, has been elected vice chair for the same two-year period. He highlighted CPI’s function as both an industry platform and a support network. “The organization plays a vital role in supporting both member companies and the broader polyurethane industry,” he said.

The CPI Steering Committee comprises senior representatives from companies across the polyurethane value chain and is responsible for setting strategic direction, policy priorities and budgets for the group. Membership includes producers of key raw materials such as diisocyanates and polyols, as well as additive suppliers active in the US market.

Jason Sloan, director of CPI, said the new leadership team brings complementary experience from across the sector at a time when the industry is evolving. He added that their combined expertise would help guide the organisation as innovation and sustainability priorities continue to shape polyurethane markets.

CPI operates within the American Chemistry Council and serves as a central forum for collaboration, advocacy and technical exchange across the North American polyurethane industry.
