Lubrizol and Polyhose have inaugurated a new medical tubing manufacturing facility in Chennai, India, expanding their long-standing collaboration and strengthening the country's position in high-precision medical device manufacturing.

The companies said the new Lubrizol Polyhose Medical Components facility will produce precision extruded tubing for neurovascular and cardiovascular applications, including catheters and haemodialysis tubing used in minimally invasive procedures. The plant will supply both domestic and export markets.

The project builds on a memorandum of understanding signed by the two companies in 2024 and forms part of Lubrizol's broader investment programme in India. The company has previously announced plans for a large manufacturing site in Aurangabad and has established a global capability centre in Pune.

The Chennai facility combines Lubrizol's medical-grade thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) materials and polymer expertise with Polyhose's manufacturing capabilities. It is designed to support India's growing medical technology sector while reducing dependence on imported components.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Rebecca Liebert, president and chief executive officer of Lubrizol, and Shabbir Y.J., founder and managing director of Polyhose.

According to Lubrizol, the facility will manufacture tubing to support applications requiring tight dimensional tolerances and high performance. The company said the site will help meet increasing demand for medical devices in India and internationally.

Lubrizol and Polyhose have worked together for around nine years and said the latest investment reflects their shared commitment to expanding healthcare manufacturing capabilities in India.
