Kimpur has expanded its portfolio for the railway sector with the introduction of its KIMflex HR Foam System for train seating applications, which the company says is the first high-resilience (HR) foam system developed in Türkiye specifically for this market.

The polyurethane systems manufacturer said the new system has been designed to combine passenger comfort with the fire safety and durability required for rail applications, highlighting its research and development capabilities in a sector with demanding performance requirements.

Train seating materials must provide long-term durability while meeting stringent fire safety, emissions and performance standards. The company said the KIMflex HR Foam System successfully passed heat release rate and toxic gas density tests carried out in accordance with EN 45545-2, the European standard covering the reaction-to-fire performance of materials used in railway vehicles.

The company added that the system also offers low volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions, low smoke generation and low toxicity performance. Its high-resilience foam properties are designed to provide long-lasting seating comfort while maintaining durability under intensive use.

Kimpur CEO Cavidan Karaca said: “Railway applications require materials that meet exceptionally high safety and performance expectations. Products used in this sector must deliver not only comfort and durability but also comply with international standards. The results we have achieved with the KIMflex HR Foam System are a strong reflection of Kimpur’s robust R&D infrastructure and its ability to develop tailor-made solutions for the needs of different industries.”
Karaca added that the development supports the company's strategy of producing higher value-added materials.

“We will continue to invest in innovative polyurethane technologies for applications requiring advanced engineering expertise,” she said.
