Departure comes less than six months after the polyurethane systems supplier announced an extension intended to keep Kruczinna at the helm through its 2034 growth strategy. Chairman Feroz Saleem will take on a direct executive leadership role at the company from September 2026.
Martin Kruczinna has stepped down as chief executive officer of Pearl Group, less than six months after the polyurethane systems supplier announced it had extended his contract for a further five years.
Kruczinna announced his departure in a LinkedIn post on 27 June, saying only that "my time as CEO of Pearl Group comes to a close" after six years leading the company.
The announcement comes as a surprise. In January, Pearl said it had renewed Kruczinna's contract for a further five years, describing him as the leader who would drive its ambition to become the global market leader in polyurethane-based solutions by 2034. At the time, the company credited him with delivering its "Pearl x2" strategy, expanding internationally and doubling the size of the business.
In his LinkedIn statement, Kruczinna wrote: "After six years, my time as CEO of Pearl Group comes to a close.
"I leave proud of what we built and confident it stands in a strong position for the phase ahead. We grew Pearl from one production site to six and doubled the business, producing and selling across four continents, in some of the most demanding markets in the world. That was never about one person. It was about teams who knew how to build and how to win.
"To everyone I had the privilege to lead, thank you. You are the reason any of it mattered.
"My thanks as well to the Board and the Chairman for their trust over these years, and my best wishes to Pearl for everything that comes next."
During his tenure, Pearl expanded from one production site to six and broadened its activities beyond insulation systems into coatings, adhesives, elastomers, packaging, footwear and other polyurethane applications. The company also established operations in South-east Asia, Europe, North Africa and Australia as part of its international growth strategy.
Kruczinna developed a reputation for his unconventional leadership style. He would largely eschew suits for Pearl-branded hoodies in pearlescent hues of green and pink. In 2024 he gave all Pearl employees a pair of custom-manufactured Pearl-branded sneakers with mismatching left- and right-feet. As recently as last month, Kruczinna posted on LinkedIn: "We made a Rubik's Cube in our brand colors. There was no business case. No KPI. No deck.
For weeks the office had one going at the coffee station. A few people figured it out properly. A few more got close enough to claim they did. The rest of us just liked having something physical to fail at together."
Pearl Group chairman Feroz Saleem will take on a direct executive leadership role at the company from September 2026.
Kruczinna indicated that he has already secured a new position, writing: "The next chapter is already taking shape. Same conviction, new ground. Impact is the only KPI. More on that soon."
