Hewei Seating launches patented PU seating platform

The company said its latest PU self-skinning seating system combines changes to internal seat architecture with a proprietary surface protection technology, targeting improved durability, comfort and hygiene performance in public-use seating.

According to Hewei, the platform was developed over more than seven years of research, product testing and field observation. The company said its engineers focused on issues including surface wear, structural rigidity, limited resilience and shortened service life in conventional PU seating.

The new seating system incorporates strategically positioned spring hooks and plates within the frame, intended to distribute pressure more evenly across key seating zones. Hewei said additional spring plates beneath primary support components increase compression resistance and improve shock absorption.

The company also introduced a transparent PU coating system for the molded PU surface. Hewei said the coating is intended to seal microscopic surface pores, helping to reduce moisture and contaminant penetration that can contribute to staining, bacterial growth, mildew, material degradation and premature aging.

The coating is also said to improve abrasion and scratch resistance, stain removal and thermal stability up to 100°C.

Hewei said independent testing has shown the system achieves performance levels consistent with BIFMA standards, with fatigue resistance and durability during prolonged use.

The company is targeting the seating platform at airports, transportation terminals, hospitals, laboratories, educational campuses, government facilities and other public infrastructure applications.

Hewei Seating, based in Jiangmen, Guangdong, China, manufactures public, medical and laboratory seating. The company said its facilities cover research, design, mold development and large-scale production.
