Xuchuan Chemical has introduced two spray-polyurethane systems designed for automated production of lightweight footwear.
The Chinese polyurethane manufacturer presented the systems at the China International Leather, Shoe Material and Shoe Machinery Fair, held in Wenzhou from August 20–22.
The first is an all-polyester system comprising an A-2100/B-3020 outer shell and an A-2160PJ/B-6323 inner layer. Xuchuan said the shell has a hardness of 60–70 Shore C, while the inner material can be produced at 45–65 Shore C.
The company said the system combines low density with abrasion resistance and slip resistance. It is intended for casual footwear and safety-shoe outsoles.
The second system uses the same polyester-based A-2100/B-3020 shell with an A-1112/B-5003-1 polyether inner layer. The inner material has a hardness of 35–45 Shore C and recorded ball rebound of more than 55%, according to Xuchuan.
The hybrid construction is intended to combine a durable, slip-resistant exterior with softer cushioning for sports-style footwear.
Xuchuan said both systems produce bubble-free surfaces that do not require painting after spraying. The company added that spray-PU processing can shorten production workflows, reduce the use of auxiliary materials and require less manual work than conventional casting.
Xuchuan is headquartered in Taicang, Jiangsu province. The company says it operates five production sites with combined annual capacity of 1.15 million metric tons.
