Huntsman raises EMEAI MDI prices by €285/tonne
The increase applies to all Huntsman MDI products in Europe, the Middle East, Africa and India from 1 October, or as contracts allow.
Huntsman is raising the price of all its MDI products across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and India by €285 per tonne.
The increase takes effect on 1 October 2026, or as permitted by individual customer contracts.
Market sources said Huntsman attributed the adjustment to continued increases in MDI manufacturing costs. The company referred to its earlier communications concerning a natural-gas surcharge and a price increase announced in July.
The latest adjustment follows a €250/tonne increase introduced by Huntsman on MDI products in Europe, Africa and the Middle East from 1 August. That measure was attributed to higher raw-material and energy costs, together with disruption associated with geopolitical tensions in the Middle East.
Other major polyurethane raw-material suppliers have also sought increases in recent months. Dow raised EMEAI prices for polyols by €250/tonne, MDI and MDI-based products by €200/tonne, and polyurethane systems by €150/tonne in August.
BorsodChem subsequently increased European prices for MDI, TDI and polyols, while BASF and Wanhua Chemical announced adjustments in Asian markets during September.
The increases indicate continuing cost pressure across the polyurethane supply chain ahead of fourth-quarter contract negotiations. MDI is used extensively in rigid insulation foam, automotive components, appliances, adhesives, coatings, elastomers and other polyurethane applications.
