Momentive to launch SilOptx surfactant for flexible PU foam

The company said the additive was developed to support reliable processing and more competitive flexible foam formulations. It is intended to provide formulation flexibility across a broad range of flexible PU foam applications.

Momentive is positioning SilOptx as a means of addressing production and performance requirements including foam openness, comfort, emissions, processing efficiency, scrap reduction and cost optimization.

The company has not yet released technical information covering the product’s recommended dosage, chemical characteristics or quantified effects on foam performance and emissions. It has also not disclosed its commercial availability.

SilOptx will be presented alongside Momentive’s established Niax and GeoCell polyurethane additives at booth F3 during Feipur, which takes place from August 25–27.

Momentive said its portfolio included additives for slabstock, rigid and specialty PU foam applications, including technologies intended to reduce emissions and odor.

Fabio Silva of Momentive will give a presentation entitled “Next-Gen Additives for PU Slabstock” at the exhibition on August 27. The presentation will cover recent developments in polyurethane foam additives, including approaches to cost optimization and changing sustainability requirements.

Feipur is being held alongside the Feiplar Composites exhibition at the São Paulo Expo in Brazil.
